PXECBKPT(3PROC) Process Control Library Functions PXECBKPT(3PROC)

NAME

Pxecbkpt, Pxecwapt, Lxecbkpt, Lxecwapt - step over a breakpoint or
watchpoint

LIBRARY

Process Control Library (libproc, -lproc)

SYNOPSIS

#include <libproc.h>

int
Pxecbkpt(struct ps_prochandle *P, ulong_t saved);

int
Pxecwapt(struct ps_prochandle *P, ulong_t saved);

int
Lxecbkpt(struct ps_lwphandle *L, ulong_t saved);

int
Lxecwapt(struct ps_lwphandle *L, ulong_t saved);

DESCRIPTION

The Pxecbkpt() and Pxecwapt() functions step over a breakpoint or
watchpoint respectively in the corresponding process handle P. The
functions execute the original instruction that was at the current program
counter, provided by saved, and then leave the process stopped at the next
instruction.

The process must be stopped at the time that the Pxecbkpt() or Pxecwapt()
functions are called.

The Lxecbkpt() and Lxecwapt() functions are identical to Pxecbkpt() and
Pxecwapt(), respectively; except rather than operating on the process as a
whole, they operate on the thread handle L. These functions only require
that the thread represented by L be stopped and not the entire process.

RETURN VALUES

Upon successful completion, the Pxecbkpt(), Pxecwapt(), Lxecbkpt(), and
Lxecwapt() functions return 0 having executed the original instruction at
saved. Otherwise, -1 is returned and errno is set to indicate the error.

ERRORS

For a full list of errors see the DIAGNOSTICS section in proc(5). The
Pxecbkpt(), Pxecwapt(), Lxecbkpt(), and Lxecwapt() functions will fail if:

EBUSY Either P or L is not stopped.

INTERFACE STABILITY

Uncommitted

MT-LEVEL
See LOCKING in libproc(3LIB).
